In 2005, Dr. Michael L. King, along with the Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi, was awarded the designation of Center of Excellence by the SRC/ASMBS . This certification was initiated by the Surgical Review Corporation and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to better insure quality in bariatric surgery.
The COE designation by this independent review corporation is based on the programs components, outcomes and statistics. This designation is awarded only after extensive review of surgeons whose practices promote the highest levels of efficacy, efficiency and safety. Through a series of onsite inspections, Dr. King's surgical processes were closely examined and data on health outcomes was collected. Demonstrating that he met the rigorous standards set forth by the ASMBS, Dr. King has been recognized as a practice dedicated to pursuing surgical excellence.
